Alabama - An Introduction


Referred to as “The Heart of Dixie” Alabama is the 30th largest state in the US. It covers an area of 52,423 square miles and is 330 miles long and 190 miles wide. Montgomery is the capital of Alabama. Alabama has sixty seven counties. Alabama experienced a lot of economic hardships right from the American Civil War till World War II. It now ranks 15 in the terms of state level GDP. Some of the main agricultural products include cotton, poultry and eggs, a variety of grains, peanuts, soybeans and peaches. Alabama’s industrial outputs include iron and steel products, wood, plastic and even aerospace and electronic products.
