Land

Alabama is located in the southern region of the United States and is bordered by by Tennessee to the North, Georgia to the East (with part of the line formed by the Chattahoochee River); Florida and he Gulf of Mexico to the South and Mississippi to the West. The capital of Alabama is Montgomery and the larges city is Birmingham while the state’s geographic center is in Chilton County. It has the second largest waterway system in the United States which constitutes an area of 938 square miles. The largest offshore island is the Dauphin Island in the Gulf of Mexico.
