Dothan is the seat of Houston County and located in extreme southeastern corner of of Alabama. Portions of the city are in Dale County and Henry County.  It is the principal city of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties. Dothan is popularly known as the “ Peanut Capital of the World” for its friendly atmosphere of Southern Hospitality. It is also known as “ The Circle City” because of the Ross Clark Circle highway. Dothan is also the self-proclaimed “Heart of the Wiregrass” of southeastern Alabama.Dothan has a large Protestant influence on its people and one can find a number of baptist churches in the city.
